University of Texas at Austin: Patrick Ragan Presents the UAE Pavilion

Patrick returned to his alma mater to share current and cutting edge trends with students and faculty in his presentation: “Beyond the Column Grid: Finding Structural Solutions for Today’s Architectural Geometries.” The talk focused on the UAE pavilion for the 2010 Shanghai Expo, where non-linear form-finding techniques were used to achieve a highly efficient shell structure, while still maintaining minimal aesthetic impact to the architect’s original dune-shaped forms
