The article describes the design of Spain’s tallest building, the Caja Madrid building, designed by Foster + Partners of London in conjunction with Halvorson and Partners of Chicago. The collaboration created an incredible column free lobby at the base with the entire structure of the building supported on the two end cores of the building. The design helped Caja Madrid capture the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois (SEAOI) 2008 Award for Best Large Structure.
