UAE Pavilion opens at Expo 2010 in Shanghai

The largest world's fair in history, Expo 2010 Shanghai opened last week, with the sand dune-inspired United Arab Emirates Pavilion as one of the most visited exhibits.
Teaming with Foster + Partners, H+P structured this 60-m clear span steel diagrid roof – which will be disassembled and rebuilt in Abu Dhabi after the Expo. Form-finding input from H+P helped the team optimize the contours for shell action, and H+P's integration of specialty bolted nodes (by Novum Structures) will allow for easy dis-/re-assembly of the steel diagrid form.
