Civil Engineering: Elysian Hotel structure and TLDs

The integrated wind and structural design effort is described in this article, in which H+P Senior Project Engineer Tim Laken was interviewed. Working closely with the wind engineer, H+P studied options for different combinations of structural stiffness and damping to develop a cost effective structural solution that incorporates a Tuned Liquid Damper (TLD) at the top of the building.
