Creativity

For the UAE Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Exposition, HP worked closely with Foster + Partners through a series of form-finding exercises to optimally shape each shell while maintaining the sand dune-inspired forms. With subtle adjustments, HP was able to significantly increase efficiency of the system.

Efficiency

For FBI's Chicago Office, HP designed the efficient structure in a compressed schedule for the competitive design-build project. Strict GSA requirements for blast and disproportionate collapse were integrated at nominal cost increase over standard office construction.

Technical Excellence

By supporting the slender 250m Caja Madrid Tower's weight on only its two end cores, the structure efficiently avoids tension from wind overturning and allows for an astonishing column-free lobby. Progressive collapse measures were incorporated in this 2008 SEAOI Best Large Structure.

Service

Tucking the Loyola Information Commons library onto the campus's only remaining lakefront property called for maximum visual transparency, without sacrificing energy efficiency. HP worked closely with the team to bring this vision to reality, minimizing structural depths and integrating embedded radiant PEX tubes in the exposed barrel vault structure to help heat and cool the stunning facility.
