Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture’s (AS+GG) design for the Beijing Franshion Guang Qu Lu No. 15 Project is a series of curvilinear buildings of varied heights up to 100 meters. The mixed-use program includes high-end and low-income housing as well as retail, schools and a sports park/wellness center function space. The schools are housed in free standing structures. There are 7 retail blocks in the south west corner of the site and a curved pavilion roof structure joins these retail blocks.
The majority of the project will utilize reinforced concrete cast-in-place construction. The gravity system of the towers, podium and parking will be two way flat slab and the lateral system of each tower and low rise podium will be reinforced concrete shear walls. All towers have been analyzed and designs checked using GB code requirements for drift and strength.
The pavilion roof will be a steel diagrid system. Utilizing the membrane stiffness of the shaped diagrid roof will allow the thinnest and lightest roof structure possible.
