Various special program needs were centralized into this single facility - early childhood development center, special education and family focus facilities, a teachers' center and the administrative offices for School District 65. Structural steel framing allowed flexibility in conforming to the sculptural quality of the architecture. The curved roof over the School Board meeting room cantilevers 8 feet beyond the room's end to accentuate the dramatic profile. By nesting steel tubes on the roof deck flutes, only 3 inches of structural depth was needed to maintain the design.
