Hotel

A reinforced concrete flat-plate structural system was used for this 15-story hotel to achieve economic low floor-to-floor heights. The narrow, urban site significantly complicated the structure’s lateral and foundation system designs. The solution was to shift the building’s core to one side of the structure and provide exterior moment frames on the opposite side to efficiently resist lateral loads. This cost effective floor layout complemented the architectural design and maximized the number of rooms per floor.
