completed
Four months after being released to begin design, structural drawings were complete for this optimized 40-story, LEED Silver composite building. HP responded to the Developer’s challenging goals for both schedule and design efficiency with focused design and research in the areas of floor flatness, floor vibrations, dynamic wind behavior and corrosion protection of exposed steel—often working closely with other expert consultants. The floor framing studies resulted in minimum depth W18 floor beams spanning 45 feet, designed to carry 100 psf live load with excellent flatness and vibration performance at a total steel weight under 11 psf. Wind tunnel studies directed by HP allowed the central shear wall, only 50 feet by 60 feet in
plan at the lower levels, to be from 12 to 18 inches thick at the office floors.
