This notable structure in Chicago’s Gold Coast will house a new flagship store for Barneys New York. As a LEED certified building, the project proves that luxury retail facilities can be both glamorous and sustainable. Serving as the structural engineer for both the base building and the interior design, H+P provided seamless coordination between the developer and the tenant. The site is bisected by a public alley inspiring two distinct buildings linked at multiple floors within the air rights above. H+P designed a composite steel frame to meet the aggressive schedule and a dramatic curved stair for the four-story atrium. In addition to seven stories of retail, the project features a restaurant and landscaped green roof.
