This notable structure in Chicago’s Gold Coast will house a new flagship store for Barneys New York. As a LEED certified building, the project proves that luxury retail facilities can be both glamorous and sustainable. Serving as the structural engineer for both the base building and the interior design, HP provided seamless coordination between the developer and the tenant. The site is bisected by a public alley inspiring two distinct buildings linked at multiple floors within the air rights above. HP designed a composite steel frame to meet the aggressive schedule and a dramatic curved stair for the four-story atrium. In addition to seven stories of retail, the project features a restaurant and landscaped green roof.
