under construction
Although traditional in appearance in order to link to the campus context, this building’s active and passive integrated mechanical systems, along with photovoltaics, will make it Loyola’s first non-renewable net zero energy and LEED Platinum building. The 4-story classroom and seminar facility integrates an efficient CMU and pre-cast plank structure. The brick-clad exterior wall with CMU back-up was carefully detailed to avoid thermal break with bridging lintels, and thus created an exceptionally high thermal rating within conventional construction means. H+P and SCB coordinated the structure to reuse much of the existing basement and foundations from the classroom/office building formerly on this site.
